The military truck which was carrying soldiers, and which on Friday fell into a canyon in Armenia’s Lori Province, was returning from the Armavir Province.

Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned that the soldiers in the truck, and who were serving in Vanadzor city, had gone to the Armavir Province Training Center for military exercises, and the aforesaid incident had occurred on their way back to their military unit.

The truck had rolled over at the Spitak city bends and fallen into the canyon.

In addition, the soldier who had died in the accident, and who was to be discharged from the army in fall, was the driver of the truck.

Nine soldiers were injured in the incident, and all of them have been transported from the Spitak hospital to the Armenian Ministry of Defense Central Clinical Military Hospital in capital city Yerevan.

A Spitak hospital representative told Armenian News-NEWS.am that three of the injured were in critical condition, one of them was operated on and, subsequently, taken to Yerevan.

And the director of the Central Clinical Military Hospital, Aram Asaturyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that two of the soldiers are in serious condition, whereas the others are satisfactory condition.

They are going to operate on one of them on Saturday, and the other will undergo surgery soon.

We also have learned that a criminal case will open into this incident.

The relevant investigation will to find out the cause of the accident.

As reported earlier, conscript Artyom Tovmasyan (born in 1995) had died as a result of injuries he had sustained in the accident.
