The Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorations are held in Istanbul, Turkey, since the early morning on Friday, April 24; that is, on the day of the centenary of the genocide.

A group of remembrance event participants visited the homes in which once lived Master Komitas—(Soghomon Soghomonian), the renowned Armenian priest, composer, choir leader, singer, music ethnologist, music pedagogue, and musicologist—, Avedis Nakashian—an Istanbul Armenian intellectual—, and Ruben Sevak—Rupen Çilingiryan (Sevag), a poet, prose-writer, and doctor—, reported Demokrathaber website of Turkey.

Another group assembled outside the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum—where the Istanbul Armenian intellectuals, who were arrested on April 24, 1915, were initially kept in custody—, and condemned Turkey’s policy of genocide denial. The group also held signs that read, “Recognize, apologize, and make reparations!”

The Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorations are still in progress in Istanbul and several other cities in Turkey.
