Armenia’s decision to join the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) was pragmatic, Latvia’s President Andris Bērziņš said during his meeting with Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsayn in Riga on Thursday.  

As reported by President’s Office press service, President Serzh Sargsyan paid a working visit to Riga to take part in the summits of the European People’s Party and the EU Eastern Partnership.

During the meeting Bērziņš welcomed Armenia’s diversified and balanced stance, noting that currently Europe increasingly realizes its effectiveness and usefulness. The presidents discussed questions on the further cooperation between Armenian and the EU.

Sargsyan and Bērziņš highly appreciated the development of the Armenian-Latvian political dialogue and the dynamics of interstate relations in the spirit of mutual understanding. They also attached importance to the further development of the mentioned dynamics.  

Serzh Sargsyan said that Armenia is interested in developing relations with friendly Latvia also in the economic sphere. He reaffirmed the Republic’s commitments in the implementation of democratic reforms.
