Armenia entered the Eurasian Union due to safety concerns, the Italian newspaper  Notizie Geopolitiche writes.

Yerevan decided to quit its talks with the EU and choose Russia and the Eurasian Union, while the EU was on its way to improving its ties with Baku as an alternative gas supplier bypassing Russia.

Following that, in 2014 Moscow decided to sell guided missile systems to Yerevan, which, according to Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, “will enable Armenia to activate its mechanisms of defense and prevent possible military actions from the Azerbaijani side,” the newspaper writes.
