YEREVAN. – If the problem of refugees is disregarded, it will be impossible to achieve a comprehensive solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-Chair James Warlick of the US noted the abovementioned on Monday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

In his words, even though this matter is not always discussed publicly, it gets the attention it deserves at all the peace talks.

The American mediator stated that there are hundreds of thousands of refugees in the region, and they need to be heard.

Warlick added that the refugees and internally displaced persons should be allowed to return to their homes.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chair also informed that during his visit to Azerbaijan this time, he will meet also with the representatives of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh.

During the previous visit to the region, a meeting was held with the Armenian refugees who had fled Azerbaijan.
