The trial on the murder of the Avetisyan family in Armenia’s Gyumri city will be launched on December 18.

The court hearing will most probably be offsite. The trial will be presided by Harutyun Movsesyan, judge of Shirak’s regional court of general jurisdiction.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on 21 May 2014, Valery Permyakov was drafted to the Russian Armed Forces and began his service near Peschanka village of Russia’s Zabaykalsky Krai.  Later, because of the warm weather conditions and with the purpose of raising his monetary payment, Permyakov decided to continue his service at the 102nd military base located in Armenia.  

On 12 January 2015, V. Permyakov was carrying out watch man service in the aforementioned military base, armed with a 5,45 mm-caliber rifle with 60 bullets. At about 2 am, he voluntarily left the security post and walked in Gyumri city to obtain clothes and money.  

At about 6 am, he reached the house on 188 Myasnikyan street in Gyumri, went into the yard from the open door, came up to the house and broke into it, where killing the members of the family Aida Avetisyan, Hasmik Avetisyan, Seryozha Avetisyan, Armen Averisyan, Araks Poghosyan and little Hasmik Avetisyan by 28 shots from AKS-74 rifle.

He also wounded six-month-old baby Seryozh Avetoisyan. The baby boy died in hospital 7 days later.  

The criminal case and the indictment have been transferred to the prosecutor, who oversees the legality of the preliminary investigation. The indictment was approved and the case was transferred to the court.
