A Turkish soldier died during the operations in Sur district of primarily Kurdish-populated Diyarbakır Province of Turkey.

Three soldiers were wounded during the operations against the Kurds in Sur, and one of these soldiers died in hospital, according to Milliyet daily newspaper of the country.

A curfew is in place in the historic Sur district ever since December 2, 2015, during which the area has turned into ruins due to the operations by the Turkish security forces.

The sole functioning Armenian church in eastern Turkey, the Surp Giragos Church, which was renovated and reopened several years ago, is also located in the Sur district.
