YEREVAN. - A joint assembly-march of 6 opposition forces kicked off in Yerevan in memory of the victims of March 1 tragedy.
Earlier, Armenian National Congress (ANC), New Armenia movement and the People’s Party of Armenia stated about the joint assembly-march, but later they were also joined by the Union for National Self-Determination led by Paruyr Hayrkiyan, “Armenia” initiative of Ashot Manucharyan and Civil Agreement Party of MP Nikol Pashinyan.
As a result of the government-opposition resistance, 8 demonstrators and 2 servicemen of the Internal Troops died in downtown Yerevan on 1 March 2008. Nobody has so far been held liable for the deaths of these people.
