A lawsuit has been filed with the Edirne courthouse, and against Garo Paylan, Istanbul-Armenian MP of the opposition pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) of Turkey.

Great Union Party (BBP) Edirne Provincial Head Arif Köroğlu and several citizens petitioned to the prosecutor’s office for launching a criminal prosecution against Paylan, and they demanded that he be stricken of his parliamentary seat and citizenship, reported Yeni Asya newspaper of Turkey.

Köroğlu stated that by saying “genocide” at the Turkish parliament, the Armenian MP had insulted the Turkish nation.

He claimed that ever since the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, they live in peace and tranquility with the Armenians in the country.

The BBP official added that, with such conduct, Garo Paylan is openly inciting hatred and enmity among the people.

In his remarks recently at the Turkish parliament, Paylan spoke about Armenian Genocide. Subsequently, the MPs of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) as well as the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) harshly criticized him. In addition, the Armenian MP was barred from attending three parliamentary sessions.
