Buenos Aires City Council held a reception for Armenian violinist Ara Malikian, who will perform in the Argentinean capital city, on June 15, according to Prensa Armenia.

At the reception, MP Daniel Presti stated that Malikian’s life was, “an example of permanent overcoming [of hardships].” 

“For me, it’s very very exciting to play here in Buenos Aires because it’s a place I’ve never played in, but I’ve always dreamed of playing here,” Malikian noted, for his part. 

Ara Malikian is a Lebanese Armenian violinist who now resides in Spain. He has more than 20 albums, and performed in over 40 countries.

His childhood was during the years of the civil war in Lebanon.

At the age of 15, he was awarded a scholarship from the German government, to study at the Hannover music school, thus, becoming its youngest student.

“Thanks to this violin, my family has something to tell,” stressed Malikian. “[And] I tell this story in the concert.”
