YEREVAN. – The last elections in Armenia will be a watershed, and the next elections will be more satisfying.

Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, on Thursday stated the above-said at a conference on electoral developments in the country.

He added that electoral processes are in a better condition in Armenia than in the other post-Soviet countries.

Reflecting on the recent parliamentary election in Armenia, Świtalski said the respective EU preliminary report pointed to numerous cases of electoral fraud, and said they must be eliminated.

As per the EU ambassador, Armenians need deep democracy. Świtalski added that ever since working in Armenia for the past two years, he realized that Armenians genetically want freedom and they are brave in this struggle.

In his words, however, all sides should agree to compromise to find a solution. The EU ambassador expressed a conviction that all Armenians should discuss the matter, but stressed that the halls of power are attempting to make the election law suit their own political objectives.
