YEREVAN. - The State Committee for Water Management of Armenia will hold talks with foreign donors on water supply systems for small villages.

Chairman of the Committee, Arsen Harutyunyan, said the aforementioned at the National Assmebly (NA) of Armenia on Tuesday, speaking at the discussion of the 2016 State Budget performance.

Since 2017, a single water supply operator, French Veolia, has been rendering services to the entire republic. Nevertheless, 560 settlements (mainly villages)—where none of the previous water supply operators operated—are not included in the concessionary agreement.

According to the estimates of an international company, nearly 270 million euro is required for constructing water supply networks and regulating reservoirs there.

The first stage can cover relatively large villages with 2,500 and more population. There are 67 of such villages but they cover over half of the population of the mentioned 560 villages. Water supply organization will cost overall 72 million euro there, Harutyunyan added.

The fixed expenses for the infrastructure are similar, therefore the more the subscribers, the lower the expenses calculated per capita: in large villages they will amount to 0.3-0.4 euro, being 1.4 euro in small ones (with up to 200 population). But the State Committee is not going to forget about them.

''We are going to lauch talks with relevant donors,'' he stated.
