The judicial proceedings of the criminal case against blogger Alexander Lapshin in Baku court of grave crimes will continue, the Azerbaijani media outlets report.

Attorney of the defendant, Eduard Chernin, spoke at the proceedings, requesting the court to acquit Alexander Lapshin. “Lapshin’s notes were simply of informational nature. In his notes he made no calls for the violation of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The expert assessment failed to prove this.”

The last plea was then given to Lapshin, who stated that he doesn’t plead guilty but is sorry for his action. “I don’t agree with the charges. I have been to 126 countries. I don’t consider myself guilty.”

During the proceedings, which will continue on Wednesday, the verdict will be brought in.

Earlier, the prosecutor proposed that Lapshin be imprisoned for 6 years and 6 months.
