Armenia has been ranked at the 96th position among 149 nations in the global prosperity index, 2017 Legatum Prosperity Index shows.

In the overall Prosperity Index rankings, Armenia has climbed by three positions from 99 to 96 when compared to last year. Since the Prosperity Index began in 2006, Armenia has moved down the rankings table by eight places.

Armenia performs best on eductiona and safety & security and scores lowest on the social capital pillar. The biggest positive change, compared to last year, came in education increasing by 17 places, whereas they dropped 17 places on safety & security.

Neighboring Georgia is ranked 84th, Azerbaijan is in the 106 place, Iran is 117th and Turkey is 88th in the list. Norway is named the prosperous country, while the last in the list is Yemen.
