Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “rejects outright” General Assembly vote on a resolution against US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, calling the UN a “house of lies”, Daily Mail reported.

On December 18, the United States used its veto to block the Security Council resolution calling for the withdrawal of Donald Trump's recognition on Jerusalem. The UN General Assembly will hold on December 21 an emergency special session to adopt a draft resolution on Jerusalem.

“Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, whether the UN recognises it or not," Netanyahu said. "It took 70 years until the US officially recognised it and it will take many more years until the UN recognises it too. The attitude to Israel of many nations in the world, in all the continents, is changing outside of the UN walls, and will eventually filter into the UN as well -- the house of lies.”

Netanyahu thanked Trump and US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley for “standing by Israel and the truth.”

At the beginning of December, US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The US decision was positively received in Israel and prompted negative reaction by many countries. People have started protesting all over the Muslim world, also in Israel.
