The improvement of Armenia’s international image was one of the most significant achievements in 2010, Secretary of Republican parliamentary group (RPA) Eduard Sharmazanov told NEWS.am.

According to him, the evidence thereof was the invitation delivered to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to participate in the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington “This indicates that the world community attaches high importance to our country even in this sphere,” he said. According to the parliamentarian, another remarkable achievement was U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to Armenia in 2010. During a press conference in Yerevan, Clinton reiterated the Armenian President’s stance on Armenia-Turkey relations, stressing the ball is in Turkey’s court, the MP underscored.

“Armenia’s achievements at the OSCE Summit in Astana are also of great significance, which proved the stance of the international community is similar to that of the Armenian side,” Sharmazanov noted.

The MP also hailed the agreement on prolongation of the Russian military base in Armenia and the country’s economic stabilization in the post-crisis period as positive achievements.

Among the omissions, Sharmazanov pointed out corruption, bribery and violations of law. However, it is important the Armenian authorities have intensified their efforts to put an end to the negative phenomena.
