Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel favored political settlement of the Syrian conflict, Vladimir Putin told reporters after the meeting with Angela Merkel.

“We’re discussing Syrian conflict noting the need to jointly contribute to the process of political settlement both on the Geneva and Astana platforms, as well as to stabilize the situation on the ground, and to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian population," RIA Novosti reported quoting Russian President.
