Special Envoy of the South Korean President, Chung Eui-yong, met with the North Korean leader in Pyongyang and handed him a letter from Moon Jae-in.
The special envoy met with Chairman Kim Jong Un to deliver the personal letter [from Moon] and exchange their opinions," ABC reported referring Seoul's presidential office.
According to Moon Jae-in’s administration, the purpose of special envoy's visit is to reach a final agreement with the North Korean side regarding the dates and time of the leaders’ summit.
Chung Eui-yong was also expected to discuss the prospects of denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
An inter-Korean summit took place on April 27 between the President of South Korea Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. In a joint press conference, Kim and Moon made a number of pledges regarding co-operation and peace and the Panmunjom Declaration was made following the summit.
