YEREVAN. – I don’t see and don’t expect a deep, long-term tension in Armenian-Russian relations, and I don’t believe that such a thing will ever happen, Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian told reporters on Friday.

Reflecting on Saturday’s talk in Moscow between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sarkissian noted that any meeting with the leadership of a big country, especially with the Russian leadership, is important and beneficial to Armenia.

“But I don’t believe that the public can have expectations from any meeting every time,” the President added. “Armenian-Russian relations have a centuries-old history, and the current government must continue these relations for many years. There is no need to dramatically treat each and every meeting.”

“Im confident that the upcoming meeting will be held at a high level, in a good and friendly atmosphere,” Armen Sarkissian concluded. “I’m confident that these meetings will be continuous.”
