YEREVAN. – The Second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide has kicked off Monday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

In his opening remarks at the event, Armenia’s Acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan noted, in particular, that thanks to the efforts by Raphael Lemkin, who had devoted his life to the fight against these crimes, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was adopted on December 9, 1948.

Also, Mnatsakanyan recalled Armenia’s contribution to the fight against the crime of genocide.

Several UN officials, as well numerous other guests from abroad also will attend this global forum in Yerevan.
