YEREVAN. – The capital city Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction on Thursday will deliver judgment in the case of ex-Deputy PM Armen Grigoryan on Friday.

The court resumed its hearing on deciding whether to remand Armen Gevorgyan in custody.

The lawyers petitioned to court in connection with motion presented by the Special Investigation Service. One of the lawyers Erik Aslanyan said the facts prove that ex-official will show “exemplary behavior”.

Gevorgyan was already charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the criminal case into the tragic events that occurred in Yerevan, in March 2008. The investigative agency had enforced a signature bond to not leave Armenia as a preventive measure for him. However, several new criminal charges have been filed:  taking a very large bribe by an official, committing very large-scale money laundering, and aiding in breaching Armenia’s constitutional order.
