YEREVAN. – The concepts of Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) security and status are inseparably linked.

Anna Naghdalyan, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia, said the abovementioned at Thursday’s press briefing.

Asked whether the Madrid Principles—for resolving the Karabakh conflict—remain on the agenda, Naghdalyan recalled that according to the respective position of Armenia, the negotiations shall continue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, solely through pacific means, and the priority is the security and status of Artsakh as well as its decisive “voice” in the establishment of long-lasting peace.

The Armenian MFA spokesperson stressed that there shall not be anything that would threaten the physical safety of the people of Artsakh.

“And what is a status, if not the exercising of right and full security,” she added.

Also, Anna Naghdalyan said what Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov had stated on the results of their meeting in Milan, Italy, was already said earlier by Armenia’s Acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan. As per Naghdalyan, this was about achieving mutual understanding with respect to continuation of the dynamics of these meetings, and reaching an agreement the text of the five-party joint statement.

The Armenian MFA spokesperson recalled that Armenia had repeatedly spoken about the need for abandoning bellicose statements. It is good that such a thing was heard from Azerbaijan for the first time, she added.
