YEREVAN. – The pressure of the international community on Armenia and Azerbaijan over the settlement of the Karabakh conflict is obvious, the head of the Assembly of Azerbaijani Armenians Grigory Ayvazyan told reporters on Wednesday. 

According to him, air of expectancy has been created between the main players. “This is the reason for the frequent meetings between the Armenian and Azerbaijani FMs, as well as the meetings of Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev,” he said.

Asked by Armenian News- NEWS.am, who benefits from the speedy resolution of the conflict, Ayvazyan noted that it benefits all major players, including Russia, Iran, Turkey, the US and even Israel.

It may be unfavorable for Armenia, said the head referring to the chief of Iran's Armed Forces General Staff, Mohammad Bagheri’s statement over supporting the Azerbaijani territorial integrity, and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavusoglu’s statement on the need for unilateral concessions from the Armenian side. 

“During the upcoming meeting between Russian and Turkish leaders, the main topic of discussions may be not Syria, but the Karabakh conflict,” the expert noted.

According to him, Armenia is trying to create a constructive atmosphere for talks. “

But both the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities are trying to postpone the preparation of the population for the peace,” he said.

 However, any concession in the Karabakh issue from Armenia or Azerbaijan will lead to the fact that the political force that will be in power will actually lose its power, he concluded.
