The duty on the import of gold products and diamonds from third countries to the Eurasian Union member states will increase in the coming years, said the Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan on Monday.

His remarks came at the meeting of the standing parliamentary committee on Regional Issues and Eurasian Integration.

According to him, from January 1, 2019, when importing gold and diamond jewelry into Armenia, a three percent customs duty is already applied. At the same time in 2020, the customs duty will be 6%, in 2021 - 10%, and in 2022 - 15%.

The Minister noted that the Eurasian Union is the main market for the promotion of the Armenian economic interests.

In 2018 products totaling approximately $2.4 billion were exported from Armenia, with 680 million to Eurasian Union member states, he noted.
