Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze today announced his resignation on his Facebook, Novosti-Georgia reported.

According to him, he was nominated as Georgia’s Prime Minister in 2018 to create and implement a framework for the country’s strategic development that would ensure the achievement of the state goals in the coming years and would become the country’s development guide.

He added that he has decided to resign as the strategic framework has been created.

According to media reports, Bakhtadze will be replaced by incumbent Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia. The new Minister of Internal Affairs, as expected, will be the political secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, ex-Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
