Pentagon CEO Mark Esper will urge Europe to pay more attention to growing threats to security and the economy from China and Russia, Reuters reported.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that Russia and China want to upset the international order by gaining the veto over other countries’ decisions in the areas of economics, diplomacy, as well as security, said Esper in a speech at the Royal United Institute for Defense Research.

He pointed to the situation in Hong Kong and noted that we all see what happens to those who continue to oppose the influence (of the Chinese Communist Party) in Hong Kong.

Esper also highlighted the risks Russia poses, from a potential invasion of a neighboring country to its actions in Syria.
