Russia's ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin believes that the search for former Armenian officials should be treated not as a political, but a legal matter.

Asked about ex-Armenian defense minister Miakel Harutyunuan, the ambassador did not give any political assessment, saying he is not aware of the details.

“As far as I know, our law enforcement agencies are working on these issues,” Kopyrkin added.

Asked whether this has a negative impact on bilateral relations, he explained that he was not ready to make any political comments.

Former defense minister, Russian citizen Mikael Harutyunyan has been wanted by the Armenian side in connection with the March 1 criminal case. Ex-chief compulsory enforcement officer Mihran Poghosyan who is charged with money laundering, misappropriation and abuse of power, was arrested in Russia. According to the Armenian Prosecutor’s Office, the process of his extradition continues.
