The Armed Forces of Armenia will have a sport club for young servicemen with outstanding achievements in sports. This is what Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia Gabriel Balayan said during a discussion on the package of relevant laws held as part of the session of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly today.

According to him, there are legislative amendments that will stipulate the activities of the army’s sport club. He also considered the creation of athletic subdivisions necessary, taking into consideration the fact that athletes who have made some achievements and bear titles are exempt from compulsory military service since the age for becoming an athlete coincides with the term of military service.
