The geopolitical forces in the region have been rearranged, and as a result, the US considered Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400s a final decision. This is what Turkologist Andranik Ispiryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, the unanimous adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution by the US Senate is linked to several issues in US-Turkey relations over the past years.

“Turkey’s policy on Syria and the deepening Russian-Turkish relations compelled the US to revisit its relations with Turkey. In other words, the powers in the region have been rearranged, and as a result, the US considered Turkey’s purchase of S-400 anti-air defense missiles as a final decision. Turkey didn’t take note of this after the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide was passed by the House of Representatives and after the Senate vetoed the resolution several times, and this was followed by the Senate’s unanimous adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution,” Andranik Ispiryan stated.

The Turkologist stressed that besides the fact that the adoption of the resolution is linked to US-Turkey relations, it is necessary to mention the importance of the activities that the Armenian National Committee of America has carried out for years.

According to Ispiryan, if Trump doesn’t sign the resolution, it will be returned for another vote, and if it is adopted by two-thirds of the vote, it will be automatically considered signed.
