YEREVAN. – The political board of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) on Sunday issued a statement in connection with the events unrolling around PAP leader, MP, and business tycoon Gagik Tsarukyan. The statement reads as follows, in particular:

“The halls of power have resorted to legal terror’ since early this morning. We assess this as a response to the last speech of the PAP chairman, in which he mentioned, without ambiguities, the acute problems facing the country, the imminent serious risks, and the only opportunity to resolve them: new, effective governance, serious changes in the country's governance system.

The RA [Republic of Armenia] authorities have adopted a policy to silence the opposition at all costs; this is a futile path leading to new risks. (…).

From early morning, the violence unleashed by the halls of power has turned into permissiveness.

In Armenia, the halls of power will no longer be able to silence the opposition through blackmail and violence.”
