Nobody in Armenia knows who the chief epidemiologist is. This is what second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan told reporters during a conversation about economy.
“In my opinion, Armenia’s chief epidemiologist should have been the most active figure in the fight against the coronavirus and the one making decisions. Citizens only see infectionists, who treat patients. Epidemiologists are the major figures in all countries that have led a successful battle against COVID-19, but when the leader of a country tells people how to wear face masks the right way and how to wash their hands the right way, that’s simply absurd. This is why Armenia has the results it has. We Armenians don’t respect specialists. It’s like people who have diplomas, but lack a professional mindset,” he said.
