During the teleconference with the defense ministers of NATO member states, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg dodged a question whether NATO member state Turkey is allowed to send terrorist Islamists from Syria to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, just as President of France Emmanuel Macron has declared.

Stoltenberg said NATO is deeply concerned over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, especially the victims among the peaceful population, adding that the untargeted attacks on the civilian population are fully inadmissible and violate international norms. Stoltenberg also said NATO is conveying a clear message to all the parties — the hostilities need to be stopped.

He also added that NATO is not a party to the conflict and supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group to achieve a political settlement.
