EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton welcomes amnesty adopted by the Armenian parliament on a proposal of President Serzh Sargsyan.

In a statement made last week she also welcomed the initiative of Armenian President to renew investigations into the events following the elections in 2008.

“These are important developments for Armenia, which meet a long standing EU demand and follow the recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. I encourage political forces in Armenia to take this opportunity to renew their dialogue,” the statement reads.
