President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin says Russia has only played the role of an intermediary in the signing of the agreement over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and has assumed duties to separate the parties peacefully, RIA Novosti reported.

Putin also emphasized that the authors of the statement are the Russian Federation, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“As far as the text is concerned, it was drafted by me, obviously, as well as by President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan. There was no other way since, in essence, it was an agreement between the two parties,” Putin clarified.
