Turkey views the events in Armenia as 'a coup attempt' and strongly condemns them, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said this on Thursday, RIA Novosti reported.

"Wherever there is a coup in the world, we [Turkey] condemn it. We also strongly condemn this [coup] attempt [in Armenia]. One can criticize, demand the resignation of the government; that's normal. [But] not only to overthrow the government with the help of the army, but even its call, is unacceptable," said Cavusoglu, who is on a working visit to Budapest.

As reported earlier, the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces on Thursday morning issued a statement on the need for the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government. Subsequently, Pashinyan announced that he had signed the necessary documents to dismiss Onik Gasparyan from the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
