Dear compatriots, 13 years ago, our state and society were severely shaken when the protest of our compatriots disputing the official election results was met with a shot in the face. Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan stated this in his message on the anniversary of the March 1, 2008 tragedy in the capital Yerevan.

"With the revolution [in 2018], the Armenian society resolutely decided that there will no longer be March 1 [tragedy] in Armenia (…).

Today, taking advantage of the emotional state of the society, attempts are being made to resolve political issues by undermining the democracy of Armenia, bypassing the constitutional and legal procedures of the people's power, overcoming the free will of the people. However, they are completely doomed to failure because (…) the government in Armenia will be formed exclusively by the free expression of the will of the people, and in a constitutional way—through free, fair and transparent elections," Avinyan’s statement also reads.
