Leader of the opposition One Armenia Party Artur Ghazinyan posted the following on his Facebook page:

“Based on my information, Armen Sarkissian and Nikol Pashinyan yesterday reached an agreement to fulfill Nikol Pashinyan’s desire to relieve Onik Gasparyan of his post by playing tricks in the field of law.

In particular, according to the approved plan, Armen Sarkissian on Wednesday will apply to the Constitutional Court, but with the request to challenge the constitutionality of the amendments made to the Law of Armenia on Military Service and Status of Servicemen adopted on June 11, 2018, not to verify the constitutionality of the Prime Minister’s recommendation.

Let me remind that in 2018, the National Assembly of Armenia made the following supplement to the specified Law in order to dismiss Movses Hakobyan from his post: “A serviceman from the top command may be dismissed, regardless of whether there are grounds prescribed in part 1 of this Article or not.”

This means that the decision of the Prime Minister of Armenia to dismiss Onik Gapsaryan will enter into legal force by virtue of law and Onik Gasparyan will legally cease to be the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia.

I ask, urge and demand the President of Armenia to send only the recommendation of the Prime Minister of Armenia to dismiss Onik Gasparyan from his position to the Constitutional Court of Armenia. Any other action will be viewed as a blow to the security of Armenia and the efficiency of the Armed Forces of Armenia.”
