YEREVAN. – Former servicemen of the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia—Onik Gasparyan, and numerous citizens who had staged a picket in front of the Ministry of Defense earlier in the day, are currently outside the presidential office, and they demand a meeting with President Armen Sarkissian.

The police have formed a human chain in front of the gates of the presidential office.

During the rally in front of the Ministry of Defense, Ara Zohrabyan, Chairman of the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia, had stated that the President had until March 9 to petition to the Constitutional Court, challenging the constitutionality of PM Nikol Pashinyan's proposal to dismiss Onik Gasparyan.

The demonstrators demand that the President petition to the Constitutional Court with a request to recognize the aforesaid proposal as conflicting with the Constitution.
