The European Union expects to receive more than a billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine by the end of September from four drug manufacturers, according to a document presented to EU leaders.

According to a document leaked to Reuters, the EU is confident that there will be enough vaccines to immunize the entire population by that date, well above the original target of vaccinating 70% of the adult population by the end of the summer.

More precisely, the EU expects to receive 413 million doses in the second quarter and another 529 million in the third. In the first quarter, 106 million vaccines were received. By the end of the year, the EU expects to receive an additional 452 million doses, for a total of 1.5 billion.

The estimates include vaccines from only four manufacturers: Pfizer-BionTech, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca and Moderna.
