During the election campaign, it is inadmissible to manipulate the issues of the return of Armenian captives held illegally in Azerbaijan, especially speaking about the exchange of captives with other people and their willingness to be exchanged. The Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, wrote this on Facebook.

"It is obvious that such a thing cannot happen, whereas manipulations only increase the tension in the country and make the return of the captives more difficult. In this way, the ‘price’ of the return of the captives is simply increased for the Azerbaijani authorities.

And, of course, it is an open disrespectful attitude toward the captives and their family members, their feelings.

Therefore, I demand from everyone to completely stop manipulating the issues of the return of captives. We should not complicate the process with manipulations, but make real efforts for the return of our compatriots who are in illegal captivity in Azerbaijan," Tatoyan added.
