YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: Law enforcement officers are carrying out noteworthy actions into the well-known criminal case related to the misuse of arms supplies

We are talking about the weapons case being investigated by the NSS [(National Security Service)], in the framework of which former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, director of the [arms] supply company Davit Galstyan—Patron Davit—, as well as Deputy Chief of the General Staff [of the Armed Forces] Stepan Galstyan were recently arrested.

Meanwhile, for example, the head of the General Staff of that time, Artak Davtyan, is still in office; he was not even called for questioning [along the lines of this criminal case].
They have not questioned Former Deputy Defense Minister Gabriel Balayan either. Yesterday our reporter tried to get a comment from G. Balayan, who was Davit Tonoyan's deputy. However, he did not want to give a comment on the case, only confirmed that they had not questioned him.

Let us reminded that in May 2018, Gabriel Balayan, the son of former member of the CC [(Constitutional Court)] Kim Balayan, was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense, whereas was relieved of that post after the [Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] war—in late November.

And the criminal deal on the well-known case, according to the law enforcement body, took place in the fall of 2018.

To the question whether he is not afraid that they will include him, too, in this case, the resigned deputy minister answered: "My fears are in me. But at the moment it is wrong to speak, to give a comment, as an investigation is underway."
