The Armenian-Turkish negotiations took place without any conspiracy and were not hidden from the public in any way. Ruben Rubinyan, deputy speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia from the ruling majority "Civil Contract" Faction and special representative of Armenia in the negotiations with Turkey, said this at Monday’s session of the NA, answering the questions of the MPs of the opposition "Armenia" Faction.

Rubinyan, in particular, reminded about the respective statements made last year by the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"It was mentioned at that time that the Armenian diplomats had held discussions with him on this issue. Then that information was also confirmed by the Armenian foreign ministry. After that, the Turkish side announced the appointment of an envoy. After that, Yerevan also appointed a special representative. The meeting place: House of Receptions of the Russian foreign ministry. It was selected with the assistance of the Russian side. But I do not quite understand what this issue has to do with the agenda of the [Armenian] parliament. You can give it [i.e., this question] either at the government [question and answer] hour or just approach me during the break of the [NA] sitting, and I will tell you everything," Rubinyan assured.

The first meeting between Ruben Rubinyan and Turkish special representative Serdar Kilic took place on January 14 in Moscow.
