YEREVAN. - Armenia is expected to face hot political autumn, political expert Yervand Bozoyan told Armenian News - NEWS.am explaining it by the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

“Political forces’ preparation for the elections is in a full swing, which means new developments will follow,” he said.

The expert did not rule out possibility that new political forces will be formed, or the existing ones will be united in blocs and unions.

According to him, the Armenian society is filled with disappointment and dissatisfaction with the political and socio-economic situation. Society is looking forward to major changes, and this may become the lever for such developments.

“Existing political powers do not reflect interests of society. People are “scattered” into different groups – the Republican Party, Orinats Yerkir, and Prosperous Armenia Party – but not all of them get full support in the society. In this context a new bloc or a new force with new agenda may become a political center,” he added.

Asked by the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent which ideology may a new political force adhere to, the expert said he finds difficult making such forecasts.

“The notion of ideology is distorted in present day Armenia. For instance, a political force calling itself liberal is pursuing extremely anti-liberal economic and social policy. All the definitions widely known all over the globe are presented in a distorted way in our country and have nothing to do with global concepts,” Bozoyan added.

If there is a new political center, it must dramatically change the policy pursued in the country and establish a new agenda. In this case, this force is likely to succeed, he concluded.
