Qatar wanted to focus on long-term contracts in energy supplies to Europe amid the energy crisis, Bloomberg reported, citing the country's Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

Qatar is ready to help ease the energy supply crisis, but wants to focus on long-term contracts, Al-Thani said.

In a mid-September interview with French magazine Le Point, the country's emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, said Qatari supplies could not replace Russian gas, which European countries need. According to the head of state, Qatar wants to help Europe and intends to supply gas to this part of the Eurasian continent in the coming years.

Before that Bloomberg agency citing its sources wrote that Doha decided to insist on tough supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the European Union (EU) for 20 years. As noted in the publication at the time, the European countries considered such an agreement very tough.
