NATO supports the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The alliance's special representative for Caucasus and Central Asia, Javier Colomina, tweeted about it after a meeting with Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan in Brussels.

"Good to meet in Brussels with Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia. We discussed the situation in the region and the status of talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan after Sunday’s meeting of FM in Geneva. NATO supports the normalisation of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan."

As previously reported, Armen Grigoryan met with a committee of deputy permanent representatives of NATO member states (DPRC) at the NATO Headquarters on Monday.

The day before, Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov met in Geneva.

During the talks, the sides stressed the importance of introducing international mechanisms to monitor the situation on the border. The sides exchanged views on the peace treaty between the Republic of Armenia and Azerbaijan and ensuring the rights and security guarantees for the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, including through the creation of a discussion mechanism between Stepanakert and Baku. The sides positively assessed the mutual understanding that regional transport routes to be unblocked should be under the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the countries.
