Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg called the UN Climate Change Conference COP27 a place for fake nature care, lies, and fraud. The environmentalist herself refused to go to the summit, Reuters reported.

She also noted that Egyptian authorities suppress freedom of speech and violate other human rights. During a speech at London’s Southbank Centre, she said: “As it is now COPs not are not really going to lead to any major changes, unless of course, we use them as an opportunity to mobilize.”

The fact is that Egyptian authorities have effectively banned public demonstrations within the country, and restrictions on accreditations and passes for eco-activists have occurred at previous UN climate conferences.

Thunberg also commented on the recent protests by members of the British environmental movement Just Stop Oil, who poured the soup over Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers at the National Gallery in London. The activist noted that people concerned about the fate of the planet are forced to find new methods of protest because they see that other ways of protest no longer work.
