Hyundai Motor Company said Tuesday it will offer a software update for about 4 million vehicles in the U.S. in response to increased thefts targeting cars without push-button ignition and immobilizing anti-theft devices, Reuters reported.
The company said it is rolling out a free anti-theft software update to prevent cars from being triggered during the thefts popularized on TikTok and other social media channels.
The update will initially affect more than 1 million 2017-2020 Elantra, 2015-2019 Sonata and 2020-2021 model year Venue vehicles.
