Thirteen people were killed and some others were injured in the fire that broke out in a night club in Murcia, Spain, EFE reported.

The fire started at around 6am in the famous Teatre de Atalayas nightclub and quickly engulfed the entire area.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

A video released by the Murcia fire department shows firefighters trying to contain the fire at the nightclub.

Police and emergency services were working to secure the inside of the club to avoid a possible collapse.

Officials said the death toll could rise.

The city council announced three days of mourning, lowering the flags to half-mast on public buildings in the Murcia region.
