The German Bundestag has backed a resolution of the factions of the ruling parties (the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), the Greens, and the Free Democratic Party (FDP), the Liberals) calling for the transfer of long-range weapons to Ukraine. 382 deputies out of 668 present were in favour, 284 were against, and 2 more MPs abstained. TASS reports.

The document says that Ukraine's long-term military support "also includes the delivery of the necessary additional long-range combat systems and ammunition" to enable it to "conduct targeted strikes against strategically important facilities located deep behind the lines" of Russian forces. Taurus missiles are not explicitly mentioned.

According to experts, this is a ploy that leaves some room for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to act on the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine. Some observers believe that the resolution may imply MARS II MLRS.
