The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia have weighed in on plans to resolve the crisis in Palestine ahead of an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the Gaza issue, Tasnim reported.

In a meeting held in Jeddah on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian thanked Saudi Arabia for accepting Iran's proposal to hold the OIC ministerial meeting, calling for a strong and united stance in support of Palestine and effective efforts to end the Israeli regime's war crimes against the people of Gaza.

He also welcomed the growing trend in co-operation between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Amir Abdollahian emphasised the need to develop economic and trade relations in tandem with the improving political ties between Tehran and Riyadh.

For his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud emphasised the role the OIC meeting can play in ending the war with Palestine.

He stressed the importance of collective efforts of Muslim countries within the framework of the OIC and international organisations, including the UN, Iranian media wrote.

The Saudi diplomat also emphasised his country's determination to take new steps to expand relations with Iran.
